The Birth of DITLO

Meet Jerrilyn Niemand Founder of DITLO Consulting

I love to train people and walked in with great enthusiasm to kick off my latest project only to encounter an already over-extended manager.  Picture the scene, desk piled high with reports, people in an out like a train station, overflowing inbox and no space to breathe, and the last thing she wanted to see was my smiling, enthusiastic face with a new project.

Lightbulb moment: we all have a need for DITLO aka “Day in the life of”.  I am not referring to a therapy session but a space where you can discuss your DITLO story – a space where you can align your “why” with what your objectives are.  Sounds simple enough, but as individuals we need a plan tailor made for our specific needs and that’s not easily found.

The vision I had was to create a company that focuses on human growth, development, and aspiration for excellence! This is a journey not a destination.

I don’t believe people can be defined by one thing, we are multi-faceted individuals fulfilling multiple roles.

But what gets me up everyday? What drives me? It’s the prospect of helping others to get out of their pre-conceived boxes and stretch themselves beyond what they ever thought was possible.

My experience:

I have taught geography to high school students, have spent 20 years in the financial services industry as a business analyst,  project manager, Head of Learning, Senior L&D Partner – worked on numerous projects delivering change management, coaching, mentoring.

The last 7 years have been building my company – I have met with local primary and high schools, NGOs and training companies – helping them identify their personal and professional goals, helping and serving others in finding and living a life of significance that flows from purpose – helping people own their lives.

I have  a BA(Ed) and BA (hons) from WITS, am a certified John Maxwell coach, speaker trainer, have an  Advanced Counselling Certificate, and Intermediate Logotherapy Certificate, am a registered ETDP Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator and am registered with COMENSA.

Meet Calla Niemand Lifelong Educator & Learner

I am a life-long educator and learner with 30+ years of teaching experience at all levels. My career includes management roles as a Deputy Headmaster and Headmaster at some prominent Boys’ Schools in Gauteng.

Apart from teaching, my time as a manager in education exposed me to my three passions: Leadership, Character Education and Staff Development. The combination of these passions has equipped me with the ability to mentor and coach learners, inexperienced school leaders, and educators to better themselves.

My team-building and people-centric nature has helped develop my leadership skills. A top priority of mine is to build strong professional relationships and teams because without the people we cannot drive the projects.

I believe that it is my purpose to inspire others to be courageous in doing the things that inspire them and others to change their circumstances and in so doing the world. My strong Christian values are the alignment tools which I use to guide and influence lives for the better.

A big part of my mantra comes from the quote by our former president Mr. Mandela, “The mere fact that we have lived is not enough. It is the difference we have made in the lives of others that determines the significance of the lives we lead.” Therefore, it is not only my duty but my responsibility to leave a significant legacy by influencing the lives of others to achieve their potential and find their purpose.
